Thermosiphon refers to a method of passive heat exchange based on natural convection, which circulates liquid in a vertical closed-loop circuit without a conventional pump. Its intended purpose is to simplify the pumping of liquid and/or heat transfer, by avoiding the cost and complexity of a conventional liquid pump. It is an economical and reliable choice. These systems rely on the natural convection of warm water rising to circulate water through the collectors and to the tank (located above the collector). As water in the solar collector heats, it becomes lighter and rises naturally into the tank above. Meanwhile, the cool water flows down the pipes to the bottom of the collector, enhancing the circulation.
